The Principles of Liberty

Sermon Outline - Mrs. Rachel Pendergraft

 

As an individual and as a nation – Liberty is what we seek.

Liberty is important – it is what allows us to be independent – if properly used – Liberty allows us to fully worship God in all areas of our life – with that worship comes more liberty. Rather than being a bondservant - we are a free person – or a free nation.

The first principle of liberty is that of power and form – there must be a balance

The external form results from an internal power.

For the external form to take place there must be an internal power.

2 Corinthians 3:17 says that “where the spirit of the Lord is – there is Liberty”

John Calvin- “ There are no doubt many countries, especially among those which the sun of Christianity has not yet illuminated, that are without civil liberty, and that groan under the arbitrary rule of powerful masters, but in order to be free outwardly, man must first succeed in being fee inwardly.

 

The Bible tells us to lead a balanced life – the same thing with a nation.

Too much external form leads to tyranny – big brother state – controlling all our actions – government attempts to control every aspect of our life – for our own good.

In the process our liberty runs dry – creativity is squelched

Excellence is looked down upon

Example: Memphis – honor roll - They are considering doing away with the honor roll in school so students not on it won't feel bad.

Science team can’t win - school science team in Indiana was told they won too many times and had to stay out of next year's competition.

Too much personal liberty results in anarchy – French revolution

Anything goes –

2 Principle – is that of individuality

God created everything in the universe.

Christian Historian Rosalie Slater states:

“Everything in God’s universe is revelational of God’s infinity, God’s diversity, God’s individuality. God creates distinct individuals. God maintains the identity and individuality of everything which He created.”

Being allowed to be an individual and being given the encouragement to pursue our individual goals is important to us as people and as a nation.

Satan attempts to destroy this concept.

Those who promote Racial Reconciliation say they are trying to promote diversity – but in reality they are trying to destroy diversity. They want one brown race of people.

Those promoting a global village work against the concept of individualism and competition. Within each of us is an innate desire to choose our own path. God wants to direct that path.

Those who promote a world government want to direct our path and make our choices for us.

On the other hand – we should not worship individualism in itself.

Groups like the American Civil Liberties Union works to support the individual rights to the extreme.

Example: Free speech – pornography – NAMBLA – Homosexual rights – polygamy – Chicken rights – animal rights – Tree rights.

Out of control

Must be in balance – God is not the author of confusion – Satan is.

Individualistic Christians – to the extreme – spirit of contempt to those not seeing the truth. Lack of worship with fellow believers.

Take care of my own family – not help anyone else.

The Bible teaches positive Christianity – the voluntary/yet commanded assistance to our fellow brothers and sisters – a part of government – tithe – education – roads- hospitals (current crisis)

Don’t be too proud and stiff necked – assistance to our own – does not include non-whites – they should assist their own – among their own.

3 Principle of Liberty is Self- Government

National Self government must come from those who have learned inward self government – If a person can’t properly manage their own life – they should not be in a position of authority.

Look at those who hold public office – their lives are often a mess – their families are shameful –

Yet we are told that it is none of our business what they do in the privacy of their own lives – Voters think only – what can I get out of it – What are they promising me.

We criticize Negroes sometimes for voting for the person who promises more welfare – Yet do our people not do the same.

Examples – stock holders – corporations – outsourcing

Tax breaks – (Kerry talking about loss of jobs – true ...but)

Social Security - ( yes we need help – but – at what cost)

Jeb Bush – Mexican woman – their son – campaigning in Mexico for Votes.

Republican Congressman and wife in Ohio going through divorce – fought to keep certain things quiet –Sex clubs – Said none of the public’s business.

Who said?

Must look for those who carefully govern their own lives.

The more laws are needed to keep people acting in an orderly and civil manner – the clearer it becomes that the people themselves are not governing their lives on their own.

 

We must police our own lives – Bureaucracy – to keep jobs, but also people keep pushing the envelope. Government is not meant to be a babysitter.

 

The 4th Principle of Liberty is Christian Character

Character means to stamp and engrave through pressure – that is what God wants to do in our lives.

In Romans 8:29 we are told that we are to be conformed to the image of God

The 15th chapter of the Gospel of John tells us that Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, and the father is the vine-dresser.

When we wish a tree to bear fruit we must take great care of it. If a branch does not bear fruit it is cut and eventually dries up and withers away –

If the branch bears fruit it is pruned or cut to help it grow more heartily and bear even more fruit.

The branches are pruned to produce fruit of both quantity and quality.

Either way – whether a fruitful branch or a barren branch – we are cut – we are faced with trials – and God willing - we prevail much stronger and more in the image of God.

God is working in our lives to build character – to mold us into his image – we must be witnesses of him to others.

Likewise – a nation is pruned so that it will become more Godly and an example to other nations.

When a nation loses its character and refuses to repent – it is often dealt harshly with. Turmoil and strife results –

These should be viewed as both punishments and warnings.

We should thank the Lord that he is sending us strong signals that our nation has lost its character.

God still directs the path of America and our sister white nations.

Even those non white nations – those living in squalor and destitution and poverty – they too are being judged –

Pastor Robb – says – how do you know your God is really God

Third world nations. White nations have prospered  - non white nations have not.

Part of that character is Persistence

Quote – don’t know who said it - How do we wait for God? We wait with patience. But patience does not mean passivity. Waiting patiently is not like waiting for the bus to come, the rain to stop, or the sun to rise. It is an active waiting in which we live the present moment to the full in order to find there the sign of the One we are waiting for. The word patience comes from the Latin verb patior, which means "to suffer". Waiting patiently is suffering through the present moment, tasting it to the full, and letting the seeds that are sown in the ground on which we stand grow into strong plants. Waiting patiently always means paying attention to what is happening right before our eyes and seeing there the first rays of God's glorious coming

During the fight for American Independence – our ancestors were patient and persistent – yet always active.

It was not a rebellion – because the crown of England had ceased to have the right of authority over them. The war for Independence was a war between two nations –

All avenues were attempted at a peaceful resolution – But King George refused to recognize our right to petition.

Patrick Henry is well known for his statement give me liberty or give me death.

But the first part of his speech is very enlightening – it shows that the fight for liberty had been a long and persistent battle – not just a short lived attempt.

In the first part of his speech to the Virginia Convention he said.

“Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned – we have remonstrated – we have supplicated – we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been regarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne. In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free...we must fight! I repeat it sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God Hosts is all that is left us! Three million of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty. Are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations; and He will raise up friends to fight our battles with us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave..There is not retreat but in submission and slavery!”

Indeed the American people were patient and persistent.

But they had one thing going for them that warranted a successful outcome should they take up arms. The population was entirely and wholly without apology – Christian to the core – While not perfect – their homes and their communities were entirely dedicated to Christ and their dedication to his laws of nature – is proven in that they did not reject their birthright – they were a people of racial integrity. This was their greatness.

Even if some should decide that we have talked all we can talk and petitioned all we can petition – there is one huge obstacle in our way- our people are not ready – they have forsaken their birthright and have lost their racial integrity – at this point in time – They have not earned liberty –

We are here – all of us – as leaders – whether in our homes or in our communities or among our friends – to prepare the people – so that they might remember and embrace their birthright and rightly deserve the liberty that Christ wants them to have.

Jesus raised Lazereth from the dead – but someone else rolled the stone away.

We are here to prepare the way –

It takes commitment – it takes persistence – it must start in our own life and extend outward.

The war effort for American Independence had the inspirational leadership of the colonial clergy - They became known as “The Black Regiment) no not referring to Negroes –

They wore their black pulpit gowns on the battlefront.

 

Successful fights for liberty by God’s people have always had the backing of men and women of God.

Our Israel ancestors – God’s prophet would lead the armies into war to secure victory and to keep the troops focused on the righteousness and divine purpose of the battle. You may recall Moses on the hillside when the fought the amelkites – lifting his hands in praise to God – and in Judges – Barak – the general of the armed forces – refused to battle against Sisera unless the prophetess Deborah led as God’s representative –

Regarding the War for Independence – Wingate Thornton in his book The Pulpit of the American Revolution:

Said “Thus it is manifest, in the spirit of our history, in our annals, and by the general voice of the fathers of the republic, that, in a very great degree, to the pulpit, the Puritan pulpit, we owe the moral force which won our independence.

Reverend Langdon – a preacher in the Black Regiment recalls in his memoirs a deacon standing and addressing the congregation at the news that Rev. Langdon was leaving the church to offer his services to Washington’s army.

The deacon said.

“Brethren, said he, our minister has acted right. This is God’s cause; and as in days of old the priests bore the ark into the midst of the battle, so must they do it now. We should be unworthy of the fathers and mothers who landed on Plymouth Rock, if we do not cheerfully bear what Providence shall put upon us in the great conflict now before us. I had two sons at Bunker Hill, and one of them, you know, was slain. The other did his duty, and for the future God must do with him what seemeth him best. I offer him to liberty.

Christian Character was at the center of the fight for Liberty –

We must diligently work to govern our lives – to cheerfully accept the responsibilities given to us – To develop Character making us worthy of our calling.

And the final Principle of Liberty is Christian Education

This is the most important Principle of Liberty and the most unaccomplished principle.

None of the other Principles or steps toward Reformation and Liberty can be accomplished without Christian education.

Christian education tells us why we need Christ to be the center of our lives in order to obtain liberty

It tells us the importance of individuality

It explains why self government is necessary

And how and why we should always strive for Christian character and to be more Christ like.

Said “The Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, out t o be instructed. No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.

We are to be educators 

We must educate ourselves – our children – our grand children – the true test of what we did right with our children

We educate through our words and our actions –

We reap what we sow

Has the last few generations been sowing good seed? You be the judge

God – spouse – children

The most important lesson – honoring our birthright as sons and daughters of God – do not pollute our blood

We are to be his instruments

God’s plan is to liberate the world from death and sin – There will be a utopia – but only God’s way

We are unique – we have been given a divine purpose – trials

Cut branch –

Plant the seeds – yet within our own family we must do more than plant we must water and carefully monitor and nurture – bugs – pests – etc.

Our cause is not in any way lost –

To wonder sometimes – will we win – will our cause flourish –

It is foolish to think anything else.

Absolutely without a doubt – 100% sure –

The question isn’t whether liberty will be restored – It will

But will we be counted worthy.

In closing thoughts Galatians 5: verse 1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Don’t be a slave to the world – its philosophy and its attitudes – be free – be a soldier for Christ – an educator for Christ – a leader for Christ – Our children and our nation is worth our every effort. Pray for guidance and forever be diligent and persistent!

Christ is the head of the church – head – chief cornerstone – solid foundation – lift the church up – ecclesia – community of believers - formed sons and daughters of God – non-whites can learn and be followers of Christ – but never can they be counted among the community or family of God

Romans 8:29 the rest of the verse – (first part) for who he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Jesus was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel

(Another lesson) white race is Israel

Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer – Bible law – only a blood relative could redeem one who had been condemned to death –

We are all (unless the lucky generation – and its soon) to die once – but to live forever because our relative – our kinsman redeemer – paid the price – We are of the family of God – of Jesus Christ –

Our family – our racial community – have inherited the birthright – and our community of believers – the over comers – will be raised up to rule along side of Christ.

We aren’t at the end of the story – We are just at the beginning

Job interview – rule the earth – peace forevermore – God’s government established on earth – Will we pass the interview – will we be counted worthy?

Its not a question of if – but when – Scripture tells us the overcomers among the family of God will rule with him and administer justice throughout the land – nations will come unto the government for guidance – no more third world nations – earth will be subdued – and all creation will glorify and worship Jesus Christ.

In this lifetime we must train ourselves – train our children – plant seeds – and cultivate believers. Liberty is our destiny –

And Christ is the key to our eternal liberty for us as over comers and for the nations of the world that we will lead by example.

We are all (unless the lucky generation – and its soon) to die once – but to live forever because our relative – our kinsman redeemer – paid the price – We are of the family of God – of Jesus Christ –

Our family – our racial community – have inherited the birthright – and our community of believers – the over comers – will be raised up to rule along side of Christ.

We aren’t at the end of the story – We are just at the beginning

Job interview – rule the earth – peace forevermore – God’s government established on earth – Will we pass the interview – will we be counted worthy?

Its not a question of if – but when – Scripture tells us the overcomers among the family of God will rule with him and administer justice throughout the land – nations will come unto the government for guidance – no more third world nations – earth will be subdued – and all creation will glorify and worship Jesus Christ.

In this lifetime we must train ourselves – train our children – plant seeds – and cultivate believers. Liberty is our destiny –

And Christ is the key to our eternal liberty for us as over comers and for the nations of the world that we will lead by example.
